Dr. Tom Yuzvinsky Tom runs the SOE Cleanroom and the Nanofabrication Lab for the W.M. Keck Center for Nanoscale Optofluidics. He holds a PhD from UC Berkeley, where he worked on carbon nanotube devices. Ruiting Xu Ruiting joined the Applied Optics Group in 2023. She is conducting postdoctoral research in the area of nanopore-based devices for studies in infectious disease diagnosis and live cell genomics and integration of detection capability with sample processing on PDMS devices. She obtained a PhD from The University of Akron, where she worked on multiplexing sensor for micro and nanoscale bio-objects.

Tyler Sano Tyler is a PhD student in Electrical Engineering. He graduated from the University of California, Berkeley with a B.A. in Physics in 2018. His current research interests are in optofluidic dye lasers and their applications.

Mohammad Julker Neyen Sampad Sampad is a PhD student in the Electrical Engineering department and joined the applied optics group in 2018. He obtained his Bachelor of Science in Electrical and Electronic Engineering (EEE) from Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET) in 2017. Sujung Kim Sujung is a PhD student in Electrical Engineering and joined the Applied Optics group in 2018. She obtained her M.S. in Physics from Ewha Womans University in Korea in 2016. Before joining the group, she was a student researcher in the department of Material Science and Engineering at UC Berkeley. She is the recipient of the Chancellor’s Fellowship. Ravipa Losakul Ravipa is a PhD student in Electrical and Computer Engineering and joined the Applied Optics group in 2021. She graduated from UC Santa Cruz with a B.S. in Applied Physics (2016) and an M.S. in Electrical Engineering (2018). Before joining the group, she previously worked as a lab technician in nanopore sequencing technology at CSU Northridge. She is the recipient of the Eugene Cota-Robles Fellowship. |

S M Saiduzzaman (Abir) Abir is a Graduate Student in Electrical and Computer Engineering at UCSC and joined the Applied Optics Group in Fall 2021. His research interests include single-molecule sensing, nanopore-based optofluidic devices, integrated optofluidics, optics, and photonics. He is a recipient of the Chancellor’s Fellowship and the QB3 Fellowship. He completed his Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical and Electronic Engineering from Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology, Dhaka. During his undergraduate, he worked on modeling nanoscale electronic devices. |
